LAPD SWAT deploys LIBERATOR during 8-hour barricade with armed suspect

LAPD responded to a Jefferson Park neighborhood following reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, responding officers came across a wounded individual on the ground outside the residence. As they approached the victim, they came under fire from a suspect still inside the residence. Officers retreated and exchanged fire with the suspect, while a perimeter was established and the suspect began barricading himself inside the location.

After numerous attempts to contact the suspect, SWAT arrived on scene and deployed their LIBERATOR Elevated Tactics System. The LIBERATOR platform was used to access the 2^nd floor bedroom window where the suspect was barricaded. The suspect could be seen lying near the window and edge of the platform, as SWAT entered the home and found him wounded from multiple self-inflicted stab wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital. There were no additional injuries to bystanders or responding officers.
