PATRIOT3 and Spanish armored vehicle manufacturer, UROVESA, have delivered a multi-purpose armored vehicle solution to the Cyprus Police.
The VAMTAC ST5, outfitted with PATRIOT3’s MARS (Mobile Adjustable Ramp System), was completely funded by the European Union (EU) and delivered to the Cyprus Police’s Counter Terror Unit (CTU). The intervention vehicle is the first of its kind on the island and will be used primarily for high-risk situations involving armed suspects. The MARS Elevated Tactics System provides CTU the ability to intervene in aircraft incidents, as well as multi-story buildings.
“With the right attachments, you can use it in almost any scenario…the system is flexible and can be upgraded whenever necessary,” said a Cyprus Police Officer.
The acquisition of the VAMTAC ST5 and MARS tactical ramp platform was carefully researched and planned by the procurement team responsible. With the support of the EU in strengthening the region by supplying countries with the funding needed to purchase specialized equipment, Cyprus Police now have an invaluable capability in its efforts to provide enhanced security to high profile areas throughout the country, including airports, ports, city centers, etc..
