EMHE Grant Application Materials

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS), in partnership with our colleagues at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), is delighted to announce the opening of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2010 Emergency Management for Higher Education (EMHE) grant competition (CFDA #84.184T).

The EMHE Grant program supports efforts by institutions of higher education (IHEs) to develop, or review and improve, and fully integrate, campus-based all-hazards emergency management planning efforts within the framework of the four phases of emergency management (Prevention-Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery).  To be considered for an award under this competition, an applicant must be considered an IHE, or a consortia thereof and cannot have previously received a grant under the EMHE program (CFDA #84.184T).

The Notice of Final Requirements and Priorities (NFP) and the Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for this competition were published in the Federal Register on April 1, 2010.  To view the NFP, please visit: http://www2.ed.gov/legislation/FedRegister/finrule/2010-1/040110c.html.

The “Information and Application Procedures for Fiscal Year 2010″ for the EMHE grant program are also now available online.  The application procedures can be accessed at:

http://rems.ed.gov/docs/EMHE_GrantApplication_2010.pdf.  In addition, the electronic application package is now posted for EMHE on the e-Grants Web site (under e-Application) and is available at the following link:  http://e-grants.ed.gov.

Applications for the FY 2010 EMHE competition
are due on May 12, 2010.   Complete instructions are available in the Application Procedures booklet

OSDFS will be hosting a series of four EMHE Grant Question and Answer Calls during the competition period to answer any questions applicants may have about the program or how to apply.  For information on the calls, and call-in instructions, please visit: http://rems.ed.gov/index.php?page=EMHE_Grant_Application

If you have any further questions about the EMHE program, please feel free to contact the Competition Manager, Tara Hill, at: Tara.Hill@ed.gov
